Kia Ora Kākano Whānau,  We are almost halfway through the term! We are so proud of how the children have been working and interacting in class and at school. It is awesome to see the friendships that the students have made with each other over the past few weeks. Please keep encouraging your children to do their jobs in the morning all by themselves! We have a few important notices for this week:  It has been announced that we will be returning to COVID-19 Alert Level Two . That means that there will be a few changes around the school with drop off, pickups and school events such as Gala.  School Gates: Our school gates will not be unlocked until 8:30am during Level 2. Students will not be able to enter the school grounds until 8:30am. Gates will be locked again at 9:00am - 2:45pm. If you need to enter school grounds you will need to use Carnot St Gate. Week 4

Week 4 Wow what a week we had with the Covid level changes.  We were very proud of how the children adjusted to parents not being allowed in the classrooms. Please embrace the children’s independence and if they choose to walk into class by themselves,  allow them to do so.  The children were very proud of being able to do their morning jobs by themselves before settling into their day. Also a busy week marking the start of lent, we started with Shrove Tuesday, all the children helped make pancakes before eating them in the afternoon. Ash Wednesday was a little different this year, as we were unable to go to the church, Father Thomas came over to school for the liturgy.  We ended the week with our School Mass. Thank you to all the parents who came along. Our children have been enjoying being outside and are showing interest in building, bugs and gardens. We are asking if you have anything listed below that you no longer need at home, if we could please have it for our outside area. *

Wednesday Update

What a wonderful week we have had so far. This week the children have loved being in the swimming pool.  It is great to see how confident everyone is and how willing they are to give everything a go. Yesterday we celebrated Shrove Tuesday. We all helped use up our ingredients by making delicious pancakes before we begin the season of Lent.    Today we attended a Liturgy in the Hall.  We learned about Ash Wednesday before all heading up to Father to get the ashes on our forehead. A few things still to happen this week Tomorrow marks the start of the Gala collections.  The hardworking PTA are in full preparation for our wonderful school Gala on Thursday 4th March. Your child had a note on Monday in their bag with some ideas to bring in each day.  Feel free to bring in things on any day. Friday remind the children to bring in their orange library bags with the 2 school library books so they can get new books when we visit. On Friday sausage sizzles and juices are available for the childr

Week 2 Update

Wow, how fast has our first week gone. I am so proud of how well the children have all settled into school and they are already gaining a good understanding of the school routines. Today I finally remembered to bring in a hammerhead shark I caught on the weekend. The children thought it was interesting and spent time talking about it and also drew some wonderful pictures. Important Notices:  Friday 12th February 2021 - THIS FRIDAY! We will be having a school mufti day ! We ask that the children come dressed in their house colours and bring a gold coin donation. In the weekend, the Apanui School Community in Whakatane were devastated to see a large part of their school destroyed by a fire. Our school is helping to support the students and staff of the Apanui School and all proceeds will be donated to Apanui School.  House colours:  Mackillop - Blue Whakaue - Yellow Mill Hill - Red Pompallier - Green The children all had a slip of paper in their lunch box stating what house colour Chil
