Week 9

Kia Ora Kākano Whānau,  We hope you have been enjoying your weekend and the sun that has been shining! We are entering a very special week for our children. The Holy Week. This week is the last week of Lent and we have so many special days to remember and learn about leading up to Easter Sunday, which is when Jesus rose from the dead.  We have some special learning happening for the children this week to help them learn about the Holy Week.  On Tuesday we have a Palm Sunday Liturgy at 12:15pm in the church On Thursday we have a Washing of the Feet Liturgy at 12:15pm in the hall.  We are teaching all our tamariki about what the week leading up to Easter Sunday is really about. This video could be very helpful to show your children and help you remember what the HOLY WEEK is about and why it is important that we recognise and celebrate the days leading up to Easter Sunday.  https://youtu.be/cZ4gQniUVO8 What is happening this week?  Swimming this week! Remember to pack your togs and t

Wow what an amazing Gala we had, everyone looked like they really enjoyed the night. We would love to thank the hardworking PTA for providing a great night for our school community to come together.  We also want to thank all the amazing families and sponsors who supported the school in this successful event.  In a few weeks we will find out how much money has been raised for our school.   Even the teachers got to try the bouncy castle. On Tuesday we have rice day, this is a fundraiser for Caritas. The children need to bring in a bowl and fork and a gold coin donation. As a school we all come together and have our rice at lunchtime.  We remember how some children around the world only get rice to eat everyday, every meal. We talk about how we are so lucky to have the food available to us.  The children only need morning tea packed.   All students are expected to participate. It is a good thing to allow your child to experience what having limited choices feels like and plain food taste

This week our play focus has had a technological focus.  We have been learning how technology can be used to help humans and that there is a design process to follow. We have used different tools to build in the sandpit and at the carpentry table, we have designed our own towers and fashion and we have even used toasters and tools to make yummy toast in the morning. We have loved watching our caterpillars transform themselves into cocoons over the past week and are excited to see them become butterflies.  Mr Bach has shown us how to tag the butterflies.  When we tag a butterfly we are able to track where they travel and how far, we are loving being a part of a real-life science investigation.

Welcome to week 6 of Term 1. This week we move back to Level 1 which means parents are allowed back into our classrooms.  We are so proud of the way the children are able to manage themselves each day as they do their morning jobs.  You can support your child to become independent by encouraging them to carry their own school bag and to complete their morning routines. It is still important if your child is sick that they do not attend school.  Snotty noses, coughs and tummy bugs have been doing the rounds.  Please keep your child at home if they are unwell! The First Aiders are fundraising this week and will have ice blocks for sale Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. If your child would like to purchase an ice block they can bring $1 to school. What is happening this week: Monday: Ice Blocks for sale at lunchtime $1  Tuesday: Ice Blocks for sale at lunchtime $1  Wednesday: Ice Blocks for sale at lunchtime $1  Thursday: Normal school day Friday: For golden time we are making apple crumbl
