Week 8
Wow what an amazing Gala we had, everyone looked like they really enjoyed the night. We would love to thank the hardworking PTA for providing a great night for our school community to come together. We also want to thank all the amazing families and sponsors who supported the school in this successful event. In a few weeks we will find out how much money has been raised for our school.
Even the teachers got to try the bouncy castle.
On Tuesday we have rice day, this is a fundraiser for Caritas. The children need to bring in a bowl and fork and a gold coin donation. As a school we all come together and have our rice at lunchtime. We remember how some children around the world only get rice to eat everyday, every meal. We talk about how we are so lucky to have the food available to us. The children only need morning tea packed.
All students are expected to participate. It is a good thing to allow your child to experience what having limited choices feels like and plain food tastes like. So please, unless your child has specific dietary requirements do not buy or provide a school lunch on this day.
The children are enjoying technology provocations that have been offered.
Inside the toast has become more popular and they started the week with wanting the toast made for them, to now they confidently cook and spread the spreads on their own toast. There are some amazing conversations happening during this time.
A few parents have asked if this activity can continue in class, we are able to provide the bread for the toast, but if we are to continue the toast after this week we need supplies of spreads, so we will need donations of spreads. If you would like to bring in a jar or 2 that would be appreciated
Outside the children have enjoyed carpentry, they have been building some amazing creations. There is usually a queue for this as we don't have enough building supplies. It would be great to get some more supplies for these activities. Below is a list of equipment we need, so if you have any spare at home we would love to take them off your hands for our wonderful children to use
.
* Hammers
* Nails
* Saws
* Bottle caps
* Small pieces of untreated wood
* Anything useful on the carpentry table.
