Welcome to Term 4

 Kia ora Whānau and welcome back to T4


We hope you had a lovely holiday and managed to spend some time in the beautiful spring sunshine.


Unfortunately, we are still in Covid Alert L2 and ask you to follow the correct procedures for this alert level.  We thank you in advance for your cooperation.


Here is a small reminder of what level 2 looks like for Rotorua St Mary’s Kākano Students:

  • Arrive at school between 8:45-9:00

  • School pick up between 2:45-2:55pm

  • NO PARENTS IN THE CLASS

  • Children need a water bottle

  • If your child is sick, please keep them home.



Term 4 reminders…


Uniform:

This term children need to be wearing summer uniforms.


Boys:

Grey shorts

Blue polo top

Plain Black/Brown leather sandals


Girls:

Summer tunic

Plain Black/Brown leather sandals


It is compulsory for all children to have a school sunhat when playing outside during T4.  Please make sure your child returns to school on Monday in the correct summer uniform with their SCHOOL sunhat.  All clothing needs to be named!


Swimming:

This term the children will be swimming in our heated school pool it is sitting at 30 degrees.  The children will be swimming each fortnight.  We encourage the children to dress themselves before and after swimming. You can help your child at home by showing them how to dry their bodies and hair.


We will be swimming during weeks 1, 3, 5, 7, 9. Each day the children will need named togs and a towel in a bag starting TOMORROW. We will work on water safety and some basic skills while in the pool. I also hop in the swimming pool with the class.

 


FYI: Early finish Tuesday 2nd November

Tuesday 2nd November at 2.30pm, our staff, along with teachers from St Michael’s Rotorua, St Mary’s Putararu and Bishop Edward Gaines in Tokoroa are involved in Titiro Whakamuri kia haere whakamua Professional Development. We will need to finish school at 2.15pm on that Tuesday so I ask that you pick your child up at 2.15pm. If you require after school care you can ring Maryanne Roling from Glenholme Afterschool Care. Mary Anne’ s contact number is : 347 0709 or 0211 215599


WORKING BEE - October 30th 

We intend to have a working bee on the third Saturday after the holidays, October 30th. There are a number of jobs that need to be done. I really appreciate the support we get from you, so thank you in anticipation. Children are welcome and we will have a BBQ lunch.


What is happening this week:

Monday: First day of Term 4 - Welcome back

Tuesday: Normal school day

Wednesday: Normal school day

Thursday: Normal school day

Friday: Library, Sausage Sizzle and Juicies for sale (both $1.50)

Week 11

  Kia Ora Kākano Whānau,  We have made it to the last week of term!! Last year, term one wasn’t so successful, as we had gone into lockdown after only 8 weeks. It has been a great term. All of the classes have settled well with their new teachers and we, the teachers, have loved getting to know all of the children and families. Thank you for your support during this term with various school and classroom events. Take a look at some of the photos from last week: We were lucky to Senior Constable Regan in to talk to the children about safety in the car. He talked about having the correct car seats in for the children as well as the importance of ALWAYS wearing your seatbelt. It is always great to have these community leaders come in and see the children for a casual chat so that the children know that these people are out there to help us.   Kia Ora e te Whanau,   We hope you have had an awesome weekend enjoying the sunshine and possibly looking out for our Matariki Stars in the early hours of the morning.   We are so close to the end of term and only have 4 more school days left! How did time fly so quickly. This week children need to be at school from Monday – Thursday as Friday is a Teachers Only Day. Please contact Mary-Ann Roling from Glenholme Afterschool on 347 0709 or 0211 215599 if you need childcare on this day.  We would like to congratulate all the children in Kākano 4, 5, 6, and 7 for the amazing assemblies they have prepared for the school in the last 3 weeks. You were all so brave and confident and we are so proud of you.
