Week 8

 Kia Ora Kākano Whānau,


It is hard to believe we only have 9 days left of school for 2021.  We have noticed the children are getting tired.  It is very important to keep good routines at home.  Please also make sure the children are bringing a healthy lunchbox and they have a bottle of water every day.  We are not allowed to use the water fountains in the red light restrictions.    


Big Day in 

This Tuesday we are having our end of year celebration.  

The children are allowed to wear mufti to school on Tuesday.

Please send in $2 on Monday or Tuesday for the fish and chip lunch.

Unfortunately we are unable to have parents attend due to the Covid red light level


Children need

* Morning Tea

* Togs and Towel

* Water Guns - for water fight and water fun

* Sunhat

* $2 for lunch


Books

This week the book room is closed, so for the remainder of the year, we are unable to send reading books home.  The children will come home with literacy based activities for homework.  These could include readers made by the children, poems, word finds, structured literacy activities. Reading to your children is also very important, so reading a night story is a great activity to wind down before bed using books you have at home.



Can Drive

Thank you to the families who have supported the can drive.  We are still collecting this week, so feel free to send in canned food with your child

Week 11

  Kia Ora Kākano Whānau,  We have made it to the last week of term!! Last year, term one wasn’t so successful, as we had gone into lockdown after only 8 weeks. It has been a great term. All of the classes have settled well with their new teachers and we, the teachers, have loved getting to know all of the children and families. Thank you for your support during this term with various school and classroom events. Take a look at some of the photos from last week: We were lucky to Senior Constable Regan in to talk to the children about safety in the car. He talked about having the correct car seats in for the children as well as the importance of ALWAYS wearing your seatbelt. It is always great to have these community leaders come in and see the children for a casual chat so that the children know that these people are out there to help us. Week 2

  Week 2 Kia ora Whānau We hope you have enjoyed the long weekend! Thank you for continuing to follow the Covid Alert Level 2 procedures. Last week’s blog post has a brief outline to remind you of what level 2 looks like for our Kākano students. Raffles Thank you for your support with the selling of our PTA’s Raffle Books. The books must be returned tomorrow Tuesday sold or unsold. Swimming The children had lots of fun in the pool last week. Thank you for packing their togs each day. We will swim again next week. It is very important to have everything named, togs, towel, googles and all pieces of the children's school uniform. FYI Early Finish Tues 2nd November Tuesday 2nd November at 2.30pm, our staff, along with teachers from St Michael’s Rotorua, St Mary’s Putararu and Bishop Edward Gaines in Tokoroa are involved in Titiro Whakamuri kia haere whakamua Professional Development. We will need to finish school at 2.15pm on that Tuesday so I ask that you pick your child up at 2.1
